Create a ped from scratch
You do not need a ped to start. Create a new ped on the start screen builds a new ped from a head and a bare body out of Pedify’s library and opens it in The base: seven steps for the face, the skin, the beard, the eyes, the hair and the body. Everything in the base is free.
Create the ped
Press Create a new ped and type the ped’s name. It becomes the file names, so it may only have lower-case letters a–z, digits and _.
Press Start. The ped is built from the game’s first face and the bare body, kept on this computer and opened in The base.
Good to know
When the library cannot be reached, the guide with your own folder opens instead, as described at the bottom.
The base, step by step
Face: choose one of the game’s faces. Under them, Blend with another blends in another, with Shape and Skin.
Shape: shape thirteen parts of the face with the sliders.
Skin: the skin tone, and wrinkles, complexion, freckles, sun damage and blemishes from the galleries.
Beard and brows: a beard and eyebrows with a colour and a strength. Like the hair gives them the hair’s colour.
Eyes: the eye colour.
Hair: one of the library’s hairstyles, or No hair, and hair colours as in the editor.
Body: Base body off or on, and body marks. The body’s skin follows the face by itself, in the same step the face changes.
Good to know
If AI 3D is turned on for your account, the step Face from photo comes first. There the face is made from a photo with AI 3D, and a try costs credits as in the editor.
Tip
Everything you do in the base is free, the face shape and the hair colours on the base’s head and hair included. Every step can be skipped, and Undo works as in the editor.
After the base
Done, open the editor opens the ordinary editor on the same project. There you add clothing from the catalog and export as usual.
The base in the editor’s top bar opens the base again, with everything you chose.
The base’s face, hair and body are free, with their face shape and hair colours. What you add in the editor costs as usual, another head from the catalog included.
Without the library: what you need
A folder of clothing you unpacked from your own GTA V, the same folder the catalog reads. The heads are in the base game’s men’s clothing, mp_m_freemode_01. The base body’s bare legs are in the Valentine’s 2 pack (mp_m_freemode_01_mp_m_valentines_02) and the bare feet in Apartments (mp_m_freemode_01_male_apt01), so unpack those as well if you want the whole body.
A skeleton to build the ped on. The easiest is to export mp_m_freemode_01.yft from the same archive as the base game’s clothing, streamedpeds_mp.rpf, and put it in the folder. You can also take the skeleton from a ped you have already opened in Pedify, or choose a .yft file. The skeleton has to be a freemode skeleton, since all of GTA’s clothing is rigged to it.
Where the packs are in the game, and how to export them with OpenIV, is in the list of every path in GTA V.
Without the library: create the ped from your own folder
Open the editor and press Create a new ped below the buttons that open a ped. Type the ped’s name. It becomes the file names, so it can only have lower case letters a–z, digits and _.
Choose the folder of clothing and then the skeleton: From the GTA folder, From one of your projects or Choose a .yft file. If you just put the skeleton in the folder, press Read the folder again. Press Next.
Choose one of the game’s heads. The ped is built at once and shown in 3D beside it, so you see the head on the body. Press Next.
Add a base body (free) is on: upper body and arms, bare legs in boxer briefs and bare feet, like the game’s own bare body. Turn it off if you only want the head. If a part is missing from the folder, it says which pack to unpack.
Press Create the ped. The ped is kept on your computer as an ordinary project and opens in the editor.
